To replace simple carbs post workout would it be ok to have a peice of fruit instead of malto/dextro? Just wondering.

I think it will work fine...just depends on the type....melons/watermelons/bananas work very well....however some fruits are quite fibrous so they are not as good for postworkout snack...

I would go with banana's or even green grapes. They are basically sugar anyway.(grapes)

I have found that eating a full lemon before a workout gives incredible energy... worth a shot.:cool:

I was always under the impressions that eating fruit post workout was a no-no. Doesn't the fructose slow down the absorption rate?

Yeah, generally fructose is not the best idea as the "dominant" sugar source. Fructose uses a non insulin dependent pathway, and tops off liver glycogen. For the most part, some can be ok, but an insulin dependent pathway is normally optimal.

Yes, but like bb1 said, fructose does not have an effect on your insulin release. While in some cases, this can be good (like when your spiking your insulin 3x daily, but need more carbs), however, you will absorb more of that protein if you use glucose instead.
I did it for years. Just put it in the blender, and drink.
