Split workouts are probably better. You can concentrate on certain muscles, and still get out of the gym in a reasonable time. Your muscles need plenty of rest to recouperate. Working them on different days means they each get a week off to grow. Remember that all the work in the world won't do you any good if your diet isn't right.
All of this assumes that you have easy access to a gym at regular times.

if your starting out, then you can do a full body work out 3 times a aweek with different excercises on the full body days. This is just to get your body in shape to get in shape. Or you can split them into push pull and legs........or you can seperate them further. Depending on your access to gym , and how often you wanna go will depend on your spilt.

heres a full body work out for 3 days(starting out just do 3 days and cardio at least 3 days.

squats 15 12 10 8 / leg press
leg curls 15 15 12 12/ stiff dl
calve raises 15 15 15 / calf raises

db mil 12 12 10 8/ machine military

bench press 12 10 8 8 /incline mil

lat pull downs 12x4/t bar rows

db curl 10x4/ ez curl
tri extensions 12x4/kick backs

you have 2 excercises on day 1 do the 1st excercises, on the next day do the different one, then go back to the 1st one on the 3rd day. Make sense?

for a 3 day more broken down split, try this......

bench press4x 12-8
flys 3x 15-10
incline db 4x 12-8
cable cross overs 3x15
bb curl 4x12-8
concentration curls 3x15
hammercurl 4x12-8

lat pull downs 4x12-8
t bar rows 4x12-8
one arm db rows 3x12
shrugs 10x3
military 4x12-8
lateral raises 3x15

squats 4x12-8
lunges 3x12-8
leg extensions 3x15
leg curls 4x12
tricep extensions rope 4x12
skull crushers 4x10
kick backs 3x12

getting long so if you want a four day let me know lol

lol that's some good workouts...but I forgot to put that I usually go to the gym about 5 to 6 days a week...sometimes 7 and I am on a split body part workout right now. I do one body part a week and allow lots of time to recooperate. My diet is somewhere in the 2000 range and I eat lots of protein...I know I should go to the nutritional forums for this question, but is shrimp any good for you? Does it have a lot of fat? I think it was boiled. (I went to golden coral and ate lots of shrimp not even knowing it's nutrtional contents)
