Hey All

I think I plonked this in the wrong section.

Hope every one is going great with their work outs thus far.

I have not been to the gym in about three odd weeks now (due to academic commitments etc...) and now the holidays have arrived I have a month or so free.

Now, I intend to hit it up hard for the one month but am looking at gaining some decent size (for the time frame) but do not have much of an idea on how I should go about it.

Excluding the back and legs, how can I improve my chest, shoulders, arms with out sticking a needle in me (joking) ?

Remember the aim is to get as much muscle as I can with out the aid of supplements (too much dollars for my liking at this point).

Ideally, I would like to train five days a week but it is most likely four will suffice.

Finally, cardio - I have read that if you generally exceed one hour that it will use your muscles as an energy source. So is one hour the absolute limit in a day ?

That is it for now.

Cheers All :)

I actually should of mentioned - that would one hours worth of cardio on Saturday and Sunday be decent enough ? With the addition of say thirty minutes during the night ?

Just by reading through many threads and topics here at FT, I think with a goal of gaining as much mass as you can, the idea is to do very limited cardio...

Thanks for the replies. :)

At the same time I am trying to lose weight also hence why I mentioned cardio.

So it would not be the best thing to totally cut it out if I am trying to lose weight at the same time, would it ? I do tend to hit the weights before any thing in the morning and as it has been mentioned in a previous thread you do burn quite a few calories through that alone. With this in mind should I still be looking at doing some cardio ?

If any one could suggest how much cardio I should be doing whilst gaining mass then that would be appreciated.

*** Proceeds to sift through the FT threads **

oh a note, if you work out for a month, and stop......your not gonna keep that extra muscle around for long. ALos can't gain mass and loose at same time. AT first you will kinda sorta, but it will tapper off. SO your gonn have to descide....mass.....or cut?

Thanks for the pointer bigandrew. But I do not have the intention to stop after a month - I just figured that since I have this extra time I may as well as use it more thoroughly when at the gym.

Never would of thought that deciding if I want to be cut or have mass would be a difficult decision. :surprised:

Quoting from bhellman:

And how are you finding that bhellman ? What are the benefits of doing this ?

Are you hitting the lighter weights in the summer season ? Do you alter your diet accordingly also ?

Silly question - What do you do in the other seasons ?
