6'1'' and 140...not looking to be huge, but goal weight is around 165. I'm making sure to eat three meals a day, a weight gain shake, and a can of tun for extra protein. Working out---I have a bench, bar, and dumbells. Is it best to use those or the old basics of pushups, chinups, etc......Basically- am I on the right track and can anyone provide any insight?

You'll need to eat more than that....... More like 6 meals a day + one or two weight gainers....
You'll need resistance to grow muscles. Take a look under one of FT's great exercise routines and you'll find what you're looking for. Good luck and welcome!

6-7 small meals (you can use MRP's as a substitute to food). Make sure you get enough protein during the day (probably around 140 grams) and plenty of rest. Nina is right in that you'll need to do more than just the old school pushups, chinups and situps...you'll need to put that barbell and dumbbells to good use!
Good luck and stay away from cardio if you want to gain mass...
