i just have 2 questions. the first 1 i asked before but didn't get a response so i thought i would try again... 1. is it better to increase the weight and decrease the amount of reps. or keep the weight the same but increase the reps? 2. are flatbench dumbbell flyes and dumbbell flat benches the same?

Hi, 1) Depends on what you are trying to do. I am of the opinion that weightlifting should be performed primarily to increase strength, so therefore lower reps and higher weight (during the final sets of each exercise) are preferred. But what do I know. However, the general theory holds that increasing weight builds muscle mass, and therefore you should be trying to reach a resistance weight that is difficult enough to allow you to only perform 6 or so reps. Note that "fewer reps" isn't really the goal - it's to increase the weight you are using to a point that is going to stimulate muscle growth. Some say that cycling your workout to include both high-rep and low-rep phases is better, but I don't know enough to verify that. I got pretty strong using heavy weights (consistently) over a period of 5 years...
2. No. Check the descriptions, or look them up on another site. I don't want to explain them myself, as you should consult an expert opinion on how to perform an exercise. As an aside, I think both DB flies and DB flat bench are excellent exercises.

i thought that lower weight and more reps is for strenght. the idea of bodybuilding is to use more weight and lower reps to help push the blood into the muscle so that you tear the muscle and the faster you rebuild it the biger you get. i could off on this but i dont think im to far off(but ive been know to bee way out there too hehehe

IT'S BEEN MY KNOWLEDGE SINCE I'VE WORKED OUT OFF AND ON..LOL THAT'S TOTALLY ON NOW!
IF YOU WANT TO TONE AND DEFINE YOUR BODY THEN GO WITH THE LOWER WEIGHTS AND HIGHER REPS, WHICH ARE PERFORMED IN A MORE FASTER CONCENTRATED FORM. IF YOU WANT TO ADD BULK MUSCLE THEN GO WITH THE HIGHER WEIGHTS AND LOWER REPS, THESE ARE TO BE PERFORMED IN A SLOW CONCENTRATED FORM.
ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOU TARGET THE MUSCLE YOU ARE TRYING TO HIT. HOPE THIS HELPS!

To add mass pick a weight that you can only get 8 good reps out of. when that weight is easy to get 8 reps with add more weight. Remmeber to eat a lot of protein and do a little cardio(if you find it hard to gain weight do none).
