I usually need 1 and 1/2 hour to finish my work out program.. After an hour of working out, I run out of energy.
It is really hard for me to finish off my work out. Any suggestion would be helpful!
Thanks

Are you eating prior to working out?

Hi:
I usually have lunch at 12:30 and work out at 5:30.
I would have a banana or an orange before working out.

Hi Rav:
My work out program is 4 days a week (working out a muscle once a week). By the time I go thorough the exercises, it is already an hour and 1/2. I notice I take a longer breaks in between to be able to finish off the target reps. How would I be able to work out in 45 minuets and be able to finish all the exercises for the day within the target reps?
Thanks

Hi:
A professional in this site generates my work out program as well. It is very well done.
1st day Legs and calves (4 sets, between 20 to 8 reps)
2nd day back and trisect (3 sets for back, 2 sets for tri)
3rd day shoulders (3 sets)
4th day chest and biceps (3 sets for chest, 2 sets for bi)
I don't know how long my break is. But I take a break till I fell I am able to move on.
DO I get tired because of the 5 hours between the lunch and working out? Or because the long time

Coolnick, what about having a protein shake with your fruit about 30-45 min before you workout? Depending on how you do it, you could even blend the banana right in with your shake!

Also, try to mix some gatorade with your protein powder DURING your workouts to help keep your muscles safe while providing a good enegry source.

I don't feel like i'm overtraining. 40 min of my training is cardio...10 min warm up then my weights then 30 min cardio.

Oh ya on fri I only do legs which consits of 4-5 exercises.
and it is only abot 1hr and half. I never felt or gained as good I am now. Bit thats just me!

I agree with you ravenwolf. My own workout NEVER go past 30-45 minutes, and 45 minutes is still to long. From studies(can't remember which ones exactly at the moment) exercise over 60 minutes dramatically raises cortisol and lowers testosterone levels. At that point, unless you are a juice head, muscle will begin to break down.

I've read that your weight training isn't supposed to exceed 45/60 mins (this seems to vary) - but then adding cardio to the end...that should be okay. Completely different kind of exercising.

Dahayz, you suggested adding protein powder to gatorade? How's that taste? Got any good flavor combos? I'm thinking vanilla powder and orange gatorade...? Totally agree that the electrolytes are important for long workouts though.

It tates really good. I use a type of glucose powder which is basically the same as Gatorade. That sounds like a good combo right there. Experiment with the different flavors, oh and make sure it is nice and cold, it is a real treat! Especially during or after an intense workout.

Drink lots of water throughout the workout. You can become dehydrated and feel tired from that alone.
