Just a few questions, do you lose muscle mass when toning up? does cardio make you lose some of the mass that you have built? Are these Cutting suppliments worth taking? and do they reduce an individuals mass? I've read that some of them have adverse affects...

Welcome to ft! Here are the answers to your questions:
1) No, you don't lose muscle mass when toning up, provided you maintain your intake of protein (1-1.5g per pound of bodyweight daily) 2) No, cardio does not make you lose some of the mass, provided you continue weight training 3) Before trying any supplement, try toning without them. If you feel you're not attaining your goal, then do your research and try one 4) Cutting supplements do not reduce mass, provided #1 and #2 above are met
You should be informed of the risks, but only you can make that decision. Most of us use (or have used) some sort of supplement (cutting or otherwise) and have not experienced any adverse effects.
Good luck! Have you signed up for an ft program?

If going on a strict cutting diet you cannot avoid 100% to loose a little muscle (catabolism) BUT as Robert so nicely explained, one can do everything to NOT loose too much.

true.. as Philia and I know very well.. when it comes to doing contests.. and getting your body fat level to very low #'s.. then you do lose muscle mass. That is the biggest challenge while dieting for a show in my book.. holding onto as much lean muscle mass as possible.
just my 2 cents.
