thanx to all that replied to my question on personal trainers.i had a pretty good idea that i really need one coz i know that when i went to the gym before i just sort of looked around and said to myself ''where the hell do i start''.anyways i looked through my local directory and then on the internet i found a personal trainer.i read through her website and it was very interesting and she listed all her qualifications and they were very impressive.i have emailed her a few times and we'll be having a consultation in a couple of weeks.i'm very excited and also very nervous but i see so many other people achieving their fitness goals that i surely must be able to as well!!!!!take care all

You are in the same boat as me! I am on my third day and so far love it! However, some routines I am not sure if I am doing right/will do right, so a personal trainer would be cool. Though, it is the money thing holding me back!

I'd like to plug ft here - I had absolutely NO experience with weight training before; didn't even know the names of the exercises let alone how to do any of them.

By simply signing up for the ft program, and reading the exercise descriptions (and purchasing a home gym so I can do the exercises) I was able to do everything with confidence and results. Although it sounds too late (you already signed up with a trainer) I would have recommended to just try the ft program without spending your money first. You'll be surprised at how well it works - even without a personal trainer telling you what and how to do it (the ft programs really do work!)

hi igloo,i know what u mean about the money thing holding you back.i can't really afford a personal trainer but i know that if i join a gym i will have no clue where to start so a trainer will be a real investment for me and my boyfriend.i plan on having the trainer come to the gym with us once a fortnight thats twice a month.atleast i know i'll be able to email or phone her(personal trainer) if we get stuck on anything.we just need somewhere to start and i thought starting with a trainer will be the best thing to do!!

Nikole - check out your local YMCA or YWCA - they can help you get set up on a program to become fitter and healthier. they also have scholarship type memeberships for those who can't afford a memebership - just look it up in the phone book and call them. Explain your situation - they should be glad to help you.

I don't think you really need a trainer - get a memebrship, get your free orientation and join their free program that usually comes with the membership.

Good luck!
