Southern girl here. Lived in TN all my life. I have a southern accent but that doesn't mean that I am a hillbilly. I love where I come from. I am a true "Southern Lady".

You wouldnt understand jdelts, being southern is a way of life. It aint just the accent, but it is everything that you do. The war is over, good one buddy, wasnt even talkin like that. Being southern is the only way because we treat ppl different down here. Ever wonder why everyone waves to one another even though you dont know them, well that is called southern hospitality. Gotta live here to understand!

I am a yankee from philly. I married a southern girl from NC. I am proud of where I am from and she is proud of where she is from. I see the way it works on both areas. Genson you talk about your southern hospitality, how you wave at everyone that you see. What you did not mention is the fact that you will wave at your neighbor and smile and then go into your home and tell everyone their business. Dont sit here and insinuate that being southern is the only way to be, I think that is ignorant. Be proud of where you are from but dont put other people down in the process. -------------- Hecdarec in full effect. |

I have to agree with hec. I am from the south but that doesn't mean that I don't like northerns. Some probably think that being a northern is the only way too. I am not around alot of northern people but I have talked to some (on here) and they are alright. Some look pretty damn good too.

I never said that I didn't like yankee's scroll up and see. I just said being southern is a lifestyle that is different down here. No harm meant by anything guys, just have my two cents. Anyways this was blown way off subject. But the yanks just bought the world series. Later guys!

Ignorance is bliss GENSON. There are assholes no matter where you go. Things ARE different up here but that doesn't make it better or worse, just different. But by your condescending tone, you are being so freaking egocentric. Being from NY IS a way of life too, so don't you tell me what it is to be part of a "way of life". As for everyone else... I hate the Yankees with such passion and I don't mean northerners...Every place is different in the world with different costums and traditions, north, south, east, west...we like where we are from because we are used to it. I couldn't imagine living anywhere else but in NY, but thats the same for someone from Cali or Dixie. No place is better than the other...As for you TEX and Genson...the North is a better place without you then.-------------- May the lift be with you. |

True that, the north is better off without me up there. All i gotta do is go to Florida if i wanna go up north, cuz that place is full of yankees. Yeah we have rednecks and ya'll have assholes, so we are about the same there. Jdelts, if you didn't read the topic of this post, it was meant for GIRLS IN THE SOUTH, sorry bud, but from looking at ur pics, u aint even close. Sorry someone pissed in your cornflakes jdelts, but this post was meant for my GRITS!

I am from the south AND I thought the war was over!! :)
People from the South are known for their hospitality and their friendliness. People from the North are known for their agressiveness and passion for life. Neither is better than the other, they are just the more prominate traits that have come to define the two different areas. |

f-a-c-e-t-i-o-u-s: Playfully jocular; humorous
There are reasons i put smileys and ish in my posts...that way it lightens the tone. When Im dead serious ill flat out say it. Have you ever been talking about your buddy sitting right next to you and you say somethin just to get his attention? Yeah...see statement above. True i'm moving out...that doesnt mean that there isn't a ton of people that i have grown to like and respect. Before i moved up here, ill agree i was ignorant to the way of life, but thats the way it is...now that i am up here...i know there are things that i care about, and some i could care less for. Its that way for any person in any culture. Whenever we type online people always take ish the way it isnt meant to be taken...granted now that i read back on my previous post i definitely could have made it more obvious i meant no harm such as with another two word change: '...is the only way - For Me' Comments like "the civil war is over" is what got genson to make his statement that south is a way of life (just like north is). But it was taken the wrong way even with the LOL next to it, just like the :) in my post. But whatever...people will think about me what they will think...sorry if things were taken the wrong way...it seems that happens a lot here...Take Care. |

What? That article wasnt bad at all my man. It was just telling some differences, and some things that are alike. I thought it was a good article. O well, don't no harm. Funny how things get so out of control over nothing. I never will back down from what i believe in, but i will say like i have said in my preivous post on here, that I DONT GOT A PROBLEM WITH YANKEES OR NORTHERNERS, WHATEVER YOU WANT TO CALL THE PPL THAT LIVE UP NORTH, peace guys, i am just a southern boy.

When I lived in Chicago years ago in the Navy, I thought I had the accent thing nailed. I went into a mom and pop grocery and conversed with the folks as I was checking out. We had a wonderful chat and as I left, I thought "I really pulled it off, they think I'm a native."
As the door hit me in the ass, pop waved and said "Y'all come back now, y'hear?" .......DOH -------------- Some times life is like herding cats. Charlie | |

Well, I'm from southern Texas born and raised and I joined the Air Force. And they stuck me in Minot, North Dakota. So I went from deep South to damn near Canada. I have to say that most of the people I have met from North Dakota are mean as hell compared to people in Texas. And for some weird reason the girls here hate Air Force guys. So I spend most of my time working out and trying to find a way to get back to Texas. Been to New York too and loved it. Actually met a ton of nice people there. Also met cool people from Canada. But what the heck is up with North Dakota and their attitudes. I think the -58 degree temps mess with peoples brains up here. My friends back home are completely opposite of everyone I have met up here.

Well, I've lived about ten years in the south and thirteen in the north. My father was a sailor, and we lived in VA (Virginia Beach and Chesapeak area). There are things I miss from both area's when I leave (like civilization, currently in pa, lol not much for city's or towns in this area). But I firmly believe that home is where you hang your hat.

Well heck, i ought to throw my 2 cents in, lol. I'm from the south, and boy do i LOVE GRITS. I'm from a very southern area of North Carolina. As far as yankees are concerned, typically I don't like them, but not because they are from the North, for some reason it just seems like a lot of times when I meet someone I don't like, they end of being from the North. One day though I do plan on goin to NY for a vacation just to see how life is up there, and compare the differences for myself.-------------- The beauty of the soul shines out when a man bears with composure one heavy mischance after another, not because he does not feel them, but because he is a man of high and heroic temper. --Aristotle |
