If for no other reason, take it for your immune system. Will greatly aid in the case of overtraining for example. Glutamine is well documented to assist in glucose replenishment also. Without getting too technical, very intensive exercise reduces blood glutamine levels, which suppress the immune system and leads to a fall in IgA immunogloblins in the saliva. (these are designed to protect the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat from infection). The fall in thes IgA can explain why many atheletes are prone to infections in the upper respitory tract. Just a few tidbits that make it well worth your while. Just because you are not sore, does not mean you did no damage to the muscle(hopefully you did!) Intense workouts do not always result in soreness.
