I was wondering does everyone here give themselves goals after there done with the first goal or do you continue with the same goal with different motivation?

In fitness.. it is good to have both short term as well as long term goals.

Short goals should be about 6-8 weeks.. and long term goals as much as a year if not further. My short term goals is to increase my calves by 3/4 inch and longterm goal is to have a balanced physique ready for a pro card!

Who else?

Short term, lose the rounfed belly!

Long term, who knows ? Depends on how the short term goals are shaping up really..

It'd be nice to first develop a 'good shape' then gradually build up weight based around that. If I could ever achieve a similar physique to that of a pro gymnast that'd be cool :)

Meantime, back to the cardio and abs blasting...

Rob.

to qoute norm from cheers: "been there; done that; bought the t-shirt."

most of my short and long term goals had been met by the time i retired from powerlifting, (which really more came out of necessity than desire). now, i enjoy helping people attain whatever fitness goals they may have, and, of course, becoming as filthy rich as possile (LOL)!

I think that once you have trained your whole body up a little, then you start targeting specific areas in your goals. You wouldn't want to just start working out and set a goal to have huge biceps and then ignore the rest of your body.

Short term goal: deadlift more.. shape my abs and back up more...

Long term goal: have my entire body even and really powerful (maybe be able to bench press 1.5x my weight.. deadlift 2-2.5x.. etc) for just my weight... not to be massive as i'd never be able to stand on stage in just a pair of colored briefs... nothing in the world can make me do that.. nothing...

My short term goal is to get my old shape back. I stopped lifting for about 3 years and lost a lot of mass. I'm what I guess you could call a Medium frame and I used to have 17" arms but they were in proportion with the rest of my body. I'm still a few inches away from that at the moment and I just want to get back to where I once was.

Long term-- sixpack abbs, if I only keep them for a week that will be fine. Then I can say "I used to have them". I'm down to 8% body fat and I can tell I've still got a good ways to go.

Long term goal is to loose the last fat on my big butt, put on some muscle mass (especially on my back!!!) and win all possible competitions next year!!!!

Pick one as a substitute. I thought ft fixed the duplicating exercises problem. Feel free to shoot a message to the ft staff advising them of this problem. Thanks.

Well judging from your goals, you should do standing dumbell curls. It is a mass building exercise. Usually I just do the reps that the other exercise had listed for me, but thats not always right. I think my standing dumbells are 16, 14,12,10.

If you're doing the mass program, do 12-8-6-4. And if you still need your arms to burn, do another set or just add more reps...if you can!

If you elect say, wide shoulders, does that just increase the amount of reps? I just did my Standing dumbells yesterday and they were higher than that. But I've noticed several times that my program has higher reps than others have stated.

I plan on gaining about 10-15 lbs by September, while maintaining a low bodyfat. Then, next winter i will go on extreme BULK and gain another 10-15lbs(or more!). And I will finally go on my first cut just in time for next spring/summer. This will all be done naturally (besides glutamine+creatine), unless I fail to meet my goals, then I may have to use more drastic measures lol. Anyways i should be a solid 170 by next spring, but 180 would be better :)

Good Luck to ALL

In the short term, I am just trying to stick with my program. My mass-gaining cycle is almost over, it's going well. Then I hope to trim fat while holding the muscle. Right now I am 172 lbs., 15% bodyfat, my long term goal is to be 180 lbs., 8% bodyfat. A couple of months ago I was under 160 lbs., and 11% body fat, that was after I had slimmed down and lost muscle along with fat. Also, of course, I want to develop things evenly, FreeTrainers.com helps a lot because the exercises change all the time.

need some help here!

In my exercie porgram there´s no forearms exercise. that means i can do whatever i want?
there´s no trapezius exercise neither. it´s not even mentioned. when do i have to work my trapezius what exercice do i have to do and how many reps?

AND MY GOALS ARE TO HAVE A BIG AND CUTE BACK AND BIG AND CUTE LEGS AND GLUTES.
I WILL LIKE TO HAVE 200 POUNDS IN A MONTH AND THEN WHEN I FINISH MY MASS PROGRAM I WOULD LIKE TO BE AS CUTE AS I CAN(OR TRY TO BE).

I think goals are good, vital in fact. I have a long term (years) goal to get as big and strong as possible using just hard training, food, protein shakes and maybe creatine. Short term goals (within a year) is to bench 100kgs for 10, leg press 300kgs, and behind neck on the smith for 40kgs + bar. I feel sure I can achieve these short term goals, but I aint banking on them, it's simply a target. Another short term goal is to commence deadlifting, and do 80kgs on the hack squat sled for sets of 8.

Okay I'm new and I dont really have much access to gyms and equipment.. I want a flat stomach and I was wondring how I would set my fitness plan and goals to do so? I think that my short term goal is to get back down to my original weight which is healthy for my size.. I believe my stomach needs to go for me to achieve this.

My short term goals are simple. Just to stick to my workout and diet plan week by week, which will help with my long term goal of losing weight, inches and being back to my high school weight. I realize that may take a while to undo 8 years of damage

Well for me this is all new so my short term goal is to drop about 80lbs or more and build up lean muscle. Not sure how big I want to be but I know I want to be cut. I'm only 5-1 so how big can I really get

Long term I have always wanted a 6 pack so as I continue to see my goals reached in the weight lose I gather I need to get down to about 8 to 10% body fat to see the abs. If anyone has any sugestions that would be great. I'm def learning a lot on this site and board. Thinking about joining the site to.

malfisher, I see that you are new so please don't take this as an attack but constructive criticism. Look at the dates of posts before you bring them back up, the last post on this before your's was in May 27, "2002", little more then 3 years ago. It's very good to post your goals, I do it. But rather than bringing up a very old post, just post a new one. Thanks.
