I have been Training to squat wider...finnaly got my hips flexable enough to do this with comfort...kinda.

Anyways comming off the box is easy...just about at any height..above, below at parallel.

Day after my ME day(sun)so yesterday....I did 10 total reps...above 75% stoping at 90% looked like this.

380/2
390/2
405/2
415/1( tried for 2 got stuck out of hole)
425/1...wraps on knees
380/2

last set was 90% on the dot, All other set I wore a loose belt.

During my warm ups...and 1st set...I tried squatting wide. I even did a "drill" to se if I was pushing my knees out correctly...and arching my back. I'm doing all of that...but I can't get out of hole...225 went up SOOOO slow....out of the hole.

I really don't want to depend on knee wraps ALL THAT much. If I move my feet in to right at shoulder width...maybe 1in outside or so....weight goes up fine...

Is there something i'm missing? Mechnically...if I learn to squat wide it would help me alot...since I only have a 29/30in inseam....so??

I have to point my toes out a little more the wider I go. If I place my toes as far out as the rack will let me, my feet are about at a 45 degree angle from strait ahead. This is the same direct that my knee want to follow as I squat down.

I just squat with the stance that I feel the strongest in. It just happens to be pretty wide. I was actually pretty surprised at the stances I saw at the meet that I just went to. I had one of the widest stance there. Most of the stances I saw were shoulder width or even a little closer in.

I agree. That is why I was surprised. Your problem could be that you just need to get used to a wider stance. How long have you been trying to bring it out?

umm 8/9 weeks solid..before that off an on....but if I go wide..then go "normal"...my normal goes up...

Youd think with my short stocky frame this would make it easier...

Do you have big quads? It could be that you are quad dominate and when you go wide you take some the strength from your quads out of the picture.

dude that almost the size of my waist. Suggestion: If want to squat wider then make your hamstrings and glutes stronger. I think that part of the reason that I can squat so wide is that I pull sumo.

Man not to sound like a girl..but I have a very large ass....lol

although my rev hyper is kinda week...i was doing 100 for 8-10reps 3-4 sets...

but I have a pretty high good morming. Off the rack about 350 w/ chains...

I guess it's just hip strength...

Big squatters squat wide not just because of their body type, but because by squatting wide you get more out of your gear and can do more when you don't have to worry about depth as much. However Pemdas, in the USAPL many squat closer because they have to squat deeper and in single ply gear.

i guess it really depends on if you plan on gearing up. otherwise, why not use them all. i mean, i switch up my ME lower body all the time. sometimes wide stance box, some olympic, some front.

I'd agree with Pemdas, but even if I didn't, I would still tell you to follow his advice, seeing as he is a successful wide stance squatter, and I can't even hit parallel with wider than an olympic stance.

Train the PC like it's going out of style.

PC? Posterior chain I take it?

Yes sundays are posterior chain day....ME squat move...with 5+sets of rev hypers( yes my gym has one) and 5+sets of glute ham raises(yes it also has one of these)

I'm going to contiue to train wide stance..getting stonger is abotu doing what you hate( which I hate wide stance squats) not doing what you like to do.

You bastard...I want a GHR. Consider doing some wide(I mean really wide) pull-throughs. Also, where are your feet when you do GMs. If they are closer than shoulder width then I would move them out. You will feel it in your hips more. Most importantly, just squat wide. One thing the helps me loosen up before squatting is to sit with a wide stance onto a low box(8 inch + plate). Put your elbow between your legs and force your knees apart. Just sit there for a minute. Do this like 2-3 times.

Lol....Well I usualy do my goodmornings with the same stance I squat or DL in since I think that would be most benificial to me, carry over wise.

I did find somthing that felt good..when I was doing a GPP day. I take two bands loop them or attch them to each other( monster mini and purple) Hook them onto somthing heavy....and do seated good mornings aqainst the bands...and push my knees out...trying to keep back arched/straight...basicly not rounding my back. I felt it in my hips.

Guess I'm just gonn ahave to give myself some time...
