Looking for good stretches for upper back, shoulders and traps... anyone?

That is such a tough area to stretch.

I have a rope that I use at night for my shoulders. I hold the rope behind my back with my hands on top of one another, I then pull up and hold and down and hold. This is a good stretch for my shoulders.

I'm having a hard time visualizing this - do mean you have a rope tied to something? And are you doing sort of a pullover?

No picture this:

Your right arm is bent like a tricep stretch, your left arm is behind your back like you are in a chicken wing. your hands are holding onto the rope. Pull up with your right nad and stretch, pull down with your left and stretch. I hope this helps. I confused myself so I would understand if I confused you.

For upper back, I do a stretch where I extend my arms in front of me, palms facing away from my body, with the fingers on both hands pointing toward each other. I then alternate stretching each arm in front of me as far as possible while hunching my back slightly. hmm...I don't know if that makes sense or not. For traps, I do normal neck stretches (mainly side-to-side) since a lot of tension builds up there for me while working out that area.

no offense but do you have back muscle? cause my hands don't go nowhere near each other lol of coarse i can't hardly reach to scratch my own back lol I have to rub on the corner of a wall lol..................just kidding by the way..........................good stretch i do before cheerleading is grab a hold of a bar or somthing solid and grip it with both hands( over lapping) and keep your back straightand lean back, this should help stretch your lats and upper back...........then let go and lean over and get some light resistance( i get a 25lb plat) and i hold my plat at arms length letting gravity pull the weight down making my arms straighten, then I slightly move my arms around from side to side and in circles.........this should losten everything up nicly
