I believe I have experienced an unexpected benifit of strength training.
The other day I'm walking along downtown and I see this chic with her head held straight and tall and at second glance I realize it's my reflection in the glass windows of a bank. I've held my head slightly bowed since highschool, alot of my girlfrieds do too, I dunno why. But the biggest recent lifestyle change for me was 3 months ago when I switched from endless cardio and "toning" to real strength training. I believe this is what is responsible for my newer, upright self =) I look good standing up straight! I feel better too. |

:).....deadlifts are one of the greatest posture exercises you can do(along with weight training in general)....and weight training gives you new found confidence and self respect to not only be able to have good posture but have that attitude to hold your head high ....
good job.... | |

My husband used to say I held one of my shoulders up and the other was a little more slanted down. We came to the conclusion that it was from carring a backpack on one shoulder during HS and then just habit, probably carring a purse... pilates has been a WONDER for strenghtening my core and giving me better posture. I'ts amazing how much better you feel when you hold yourself correctly!

Well done! It's amazing how much of a difference good posture makes, and unlike giong to the gym, it's pretty instantaneous.
So when are we going to get pictures of the new improved you, randomgirl? -------------- Gone cycling... |

well Princess, I thought FT had a policy against us ugly ppl posting photos..
J/K! actually my husband took our digicam to Iraq and left me w/ the Minolta APS all weather/underwater cam. I had shot a whole roll of film of myself thinking atleast one pic would turn out, but I was WRONG! I'm sure the developer had a good laugh tho. I have 2 options now A: work up some bravado and ask someone to take my pic, or B: buy a second cheap digicam and take one of myself I'll prolly go with plab B, I'm just waiting for someone to have a sale or sumn. Our one digicam is a Cannon 10D so I don't wanna drop a big chunk of change again, you know? So in long over-due answer : soon. Promise! -------------- Life is hard: No-one makes it out alive. |

Laughing!
I'm SO with ya! I had to work up the nerve just to ask my hhubby to take pics of me! I had him take some "before" shots prior to starting this program and I thank the powers-that-be that we had a digital camera for it! EEEKKKK!!! No way do I want anyone seeing those! At least not until I can provide some snaps of an improved me.   We are such funny creatures! Erika. |

Well I didn't have the guts to ask anyone to take my pics - I had to use the timer delay on my camera :)

Erika you ARE brave. I wouldnt have the nerve to ask even my husband to photograph me.
I will have to settle for a "three months into it" before pic. hopefully in about a year I'll have an improvement in my body composition and then I can get an "after" pic up too. we are funny creatures..why are we so dag shy? Princess you're inspiring. I downloaded the manuel for my camera online , becuz I couldnt find ours, and I learned how to set the self timer. So I was super excited and took a few pics and dropped them off this afternoon. It should take about 5 days to get them back. (I didn't do one-hour developing, to avoid any embarrassment!) When they come in I'll try to downsize the img so it can upload and soon we will see me. I hope you don't mind, I kinda used your pics as a format for how to take mine. I definately can't flex yet or anything like that, plus your's are realy good. So be flattered, becuz you have been imitated! -------------- Life is hard: No-one makes it out alive. |

Thankyou very much randomgirl
I've yet to take a pic which I regard as an "after" pic - as far as I'm concerned, they are all "before" pictures - but I suspect that's just typical female neurosis! |
