Hi, i'm a new member trying to get some weight on my 5,11" frame of 23 years and who tend to be found in Montréal(Québec). I'm of the fast metabolism kind, and i know it won't be easy (i also tend to lose interest if i see no immediate result). I've already trained 3 month, 1 years ago and gained arounf 10lbs.Right now i`m at 140lbs and planning to get around 150-160 in 3 month. Am i irrealistic? I'm training 3 days a week and before that, i was more of the sedentary guy(reading instead of doing outside activity). I'm taking powder protein once a day and plan to using creatine 3 weeks a month. Feel free to give me any tips, they'll be appreciated. I've already got some really good info from this site, good job. |

Good luck Sammy with your program. So far people have been very positive about the site, so I believe you will find the kind of information and support you need here. Hopefully the same will be true with the motivation factor.Erik |

Hi,and welcome. If you r using powder protein only once a day....make sure it is within 45 mins of your workout and also have a descent amount of calories with it. And if you r planning to use creatine....thats great but wait a few more months.I suggest you read up on books on training techniques and postures and all the details.I suggest the monthly muscle&fitness magazine to be the best source. best of luck. |

Thanks,I didn't plan using creatine within 3 week start. As for protein, are you suggesting i should take some twice daily? And if the awnser is yes, when would be the best time to take it, considering that i'm training in the morning. |

What's up Sammyf,We are in the same boat. I am 6 feet tall and about 155lbs. It is also hard for me to gain weight, but honestly since I started the mass building routine for 12 weeks here, I am making gains and growing. I take a multivitamin and Methoxypro which is a protein and muscle synthesis supplement. I also take creatine in the liquid form. Ask me any questions since we are built similarly. |

Thanks,I think i'll take proteein twice daily for training days, and once for non-training days. Are some brand better than other? As for creatine, it'll wait another 2 weeks since i only plan on using it after 3 week start. So how long have you been training, and what are your progress? |

I just started my fifth week this monday. I am getting bigger and gaining mass. I eat about 200 grams of protein a day and try to get in about 400 to 500 grams of carbs. Fat isn't a big issue. I usually get my 20 grams or so. Supplements do help though. Take creatine for the loading phase to soak your muscles in it for I think a week before any lifting. You'll get there. Don't give up. |

Hey Sammy,I am 28 and 5'11" with still a fast metabolism. Good news is I'am @ 192lbs and solid. I did most of this in a few years. The best advice I can give is to eat 6 meals a day. Start heavy in the morning and do not touch carbs after 9:00 p.m.. Eat at least 200g + of protein and a little glutamine - morning and night. As for creatine I cycle it - on six weeks, off one week. Make goals and change habits by writing down what stops you from completing something in your program. For me it was getting enough sleep and those six meals. You should never feel hungery. |

Greetings,Congratulation for your gains. I must admit i'll never have time to take 6 meals a day. Right now i'm only taking breakfast, proteins, diner, supper and proteins again if it's training day. I even had to cut down on the breakfast since i readed that it wasn't good to eat before training, so i cut it down to 2 brown peanut butter toasts. Currently i'm in intership, so it's easier to have a regular schedule, but when i return to university in 3 month, it'll be even harder to keep this food schedules. Well, i guess i could start thinking about meal replacement for the afternoon... But the thing is, i don't want to eat to much either, since i want to melt the litle fat i have on the stomach. |
