I’m 19 years old and I’m 5'8''. I was talking to one of my friends who had a friend who had a doctor prescribe him with growth hormones. He is a year older than I am and supposedly he grew from 5’9’’ to 6’0’’. I was wondering what the side effects would be if I was to take growth hormones at this point in my life. I am interested in them to grow for baseball.

dont experiment with growth hormones, doesnt matter what you think or what your friend (who had a friend, who had a...bla-bla-bla) think - its extremely dangerous. Just consign it to limbo.

The best place to go for advice is your doctor, if you don't want to talk to then you have realised there is not a real problem. Though they might seem to have a beneficial effect (at least in the short term) to some people the side effects of badly used hormones are not worth the risk. People can act completely differently to the same dose of a drug – ask for qualified advice.

I am not an expert on this by any means, but I have never heard of growth hormones making someone grow 3 inches....i may be wrong but I know when I was you age i went from 5 ft 9in to 6 ft 1 in in about a year or so. That may be the case with your friend he just got done growing. I would not take them unless I would die with out them you get my meaning? Like erirvine said go talk to your doctor your frined may have had a true medical reason to be on them.

A kid I knew in high school who took growth hormones, but only because he was seriously underdeveloped. He did grow a few inches because of them, but the treatments were extremely expensive and his doctor was very hesitant about the whole thing. Like Mutt said, don't mess with them unless they truly are necessary. Your body's chemistry is too delicate and uncertain to mess around with, especially for vanity reasons.
