mutt, you know im going to school in the area. I'm not putting up your numbers (yet) and youve probably got a hundred pounds on me, but when you start that club, I want in.-------------- The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over. ~~~Hunter S. My one problem is the place. I don't have a car on campus, so it would have to be somewhere the bus lines run, but I'd be all for it. Menace and andrew can come up and we'd have a ft powerlifting club. I do know of a group of guys that train here @ RIT for powerlifting, and they say there are other groups that practice powerlifting, I know I've seen at least 2 other guys. Maybe you could find out if there already are any clubs you could get in on. -------------- The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over. ~~~Hunter S. LOL not sure if the bus lines will work. Hell not even sure where we could do this. We need to do some research. If I had the money I would get a better bench/rack, I have close to 600 in plates, and 2 olympic bars. All I need is a good rack/bench and my basement could become the FT Powerlifting Club. LOL of course it would be a small club and there is no space for over head presses and such.-------------- Less Talk, More Chalk! 7707mutt@freetrainers.com |

For awhile now i have just been reading these post and understand that in order to pack on muscle you need a sound diet so i was wonder how guy/gals in prison for example get as big as they to because i assume they only eat 3 times aday and don't get the amount of protein they should amoung other things but yet alot of them get huge i was watching the discovery channel the other day saw a show on a prison they were having weight lighting meets alot them at state records so i don't know if anybody care i was just wonder how -------------- TO KNOW SUCCESS YOU MUST FRIST KNOW FAILURE |

If you believe that an increase in testosterone causes an increase in aggressiveness, it's possible that the people in jail are, on average, better at building muscle.

There are people that believe that higher levels of testosterone lead to higher levels of aggression. If this were true, it could be possible that people that are incarcerated for violent crimes are naturally more likely to make good gains from lifting. Or maybe I'm just over thinking.

everything is relative...
they get good meals...yes just 3...but bottom line is the total calories, total protein, total carbs, total fats, etc that a person consumes...yes the body fucntions more efficiently with more frequent meals....but 3 is enough.... these same people can probably get better results with improved nutrition but they are probably gifted to begin with...whenever u see some1 throw up huge numbers....I think 'genetics'...other things matter quite a bit....but genetics is what determines how trully great/powerful/strong u can be....keep in mind that most people never quite reach that point....

they also dont have full time jobs or home lives to recover from. just like the bulgarian team pays their weightlifters so that they dont have to hold jobs, they can devote much mroe time to training and recovery.-------------- The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over. ~~~Hunter S. i think genetics is a cop out. I probably have the worst genetics on the board, I just know how to train properly to achieve my goals. -------------- The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over. ~~~Hunter S. wrestler but notice how I said most people never quite reach that point...
I think my genetics are far from great(my dad and I couldn't be more different...he has pretty bad scaliosis and never lifted weights in his life)...but hard lifting got me good results...most people don't push themselves...

this is true...
but i think genetics can be, for the most part, overcome. there are lifters that have totalled elite with genetics as bad as you or I. they train smart. I intend on being one of those lifters. -------------- The Edge... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over. ~~~Hunter S. I also think it comes down to this: Eating right, Rest right, Training right, Having the Right people around you.
That said let me explain a bit. Eating, resting and training are after all very simple yet totaly screwed up a lot. I will not go into that here. We all know how to get those three for the most part. Rather my main problem and maybe others as well is the right people around you. I have no training partner. Benching heavy is my worst exercise, so there for I want to focus on it. At the gym I go to all I have to choose from is one worker that is there sometimes for me to ask for a spot. Rest of the time are 120lbs 14 yearold kids. NO way am I asking for them to spot me when I am trying to hit singles. I would give just about anything to have one person that could train when I train. Train the way I train. I just do not have it. I can increase my dead lift froma max of 405 this past march to 455. I increased my squat from 315 to 455 in the same time. My bench yeah I hit 325 a few months ago. Now I can just get 275 1 time. LOL so you see you can complain all you want about not being able to eat enough (shut it and eat fool!), or complain about bad genes (if that is your excuse there is the door, don't let it hit ya where the good lord split ya). Those things can be overcome. Finding the right people is much much harder. I am always coming under fire from my wife and my mom and dad, wife to a lesser extant. My wife wishes I was less fat for health reasons. But she does not understand the level of energy I have to put out to do my workouts. So when I am home afterwards I am sore, cranky tired etc. But she does understand that I need to do this. My mom and dad both think I am crazy. They think they know how I should eat, how I should train. Hell my dad is 62 weighs 265 at 5 foot 10. LOL he is a very very naturally strong man. When I was 12 I saw him pick a car engine up off a flat bed truck, and carry over to the car he was working on(about 20 feet). He set that one down, pulled the bad one out of the car and lifted the new one in. But he thinks I eat too much protein (not knowing I am always short on it). and his idea of exercise is always cardio. That is what I mean about the right people. I wish to god a few of ya lived near me and we all could get a FT Power Lifting club going! Ok enough I am done thanks! -------------- Less Talk, More Chalk! 7707mutt@freetrainers.com |
