I am new here and I am really looking forward to utilizing all of the information on this site. I am 5'9 and weigh 162lbs. I have become frustrated with my body not responding like it use to and I am looking for new routines, or ideas. I usually work out alone and none of my friends are interested in fitness so at times it is hard to stay motivated. I usually attend group exercise classes, but I would like to break away from that. I seem to be stuck in a rutt. I had a baby in April 2003 along with back surgery later in the year (Dec 2003) for a herniated disk in my L4/5 area. Everything went fine with the surgery and I finally feel good and I am now ready to commit myself once again. My question for anyone that would care to share ideas would be "How does one stay motivated when going at fitness alone? any ideas or tips would be greatly appreciated
Welcome to raineet! I find my ipod invaluable when working out alone. I look forward to my workouts because it is an hour I get to spend on my own listening to good music! Changing your routine is the best thing you could do for yourself, but you may find you "need" the group to stay motivated. No problem, just find some different classes like spinning, a running group, etc. You should be doing cardio 2-3X/week along with a resistance program 2-3X/week. If you find you can workout on your own, try one of the FT exercise programs on this site...many have found success using them!
Good Luck!
