Hi everyone, Kev here. I am new(again) to fitness and am here for help, motivation whatever you may want to call it. I am a 45 y/o male who has decided that being overweight and out of shape is no longer an option for me. I am 6' and weigh very close to 300 pounds. My target weight is 230-240, but a good 230-240 if that makes any sense. I have joined a gym and gotten some pointers from a PT about nutrition and exercise.
I am trying to eat right, 4-5 meals per day and fruits and things for snacks.
I guess what I am asking for is suggestions such as how much treadmill work(elliptical is out of the question right now cause my weight is causing problems with knees and ankles) should I do per week? I am also incorporating some Nautilus and small free weight exercizes but not really sure where to start on those either.
I am willing to listen to any constructive advice and criticism that you may want to throw my way.
Thanks
Kev
You ask some very good questions, and will perhaps gain some more answers if you post your goals/problems etc in the "Beginners to Weight Training - Fitness" section.
sign up for a exercise program under fitness tab and check out exercise resources for exercise glossary the name of each exercise in your workout that will be created is a link to instructions and visualizations on how to do it...being abig guy myself and previous knee injury...i personally use an elliptical less stress and impact i do what is called HIIT for about 10 mins but thats how HIIT is designed if just starting out do a distane based goal rather than minutes, found that helps then once you are regularly doing a mile or 1.5-2 miles see what your times are and then try to improve on those (which will up your intensity) anyway thats a good starting point...
