hey my name is carlos, i'm 22 years old and i live in new york city. i joined ft after looking for "diet plans" on google, and here i am.

i am not at all happy with my current physical condition, and would appreciate any extra help from anyone in regards to diet plans (i'm a bachelor - no home cooked meals, so i need to know what and what not to eat) and home workouts/calistetics (i can't afford to join a gym right now)

my ultimate goal is to lose about 15lbs and tone up as well as build muscle. i already have the mass, now i just need the plan.

thanks again.

Hi Carlos, welcome to FT! There is a ton of information on this site, as you mentioned. Use Fit Buddy at the bottom of the page to do a search.

Now, as for 'diet' toss that word out the window and make a 'lifestyle change' instead. Diets have a negative connotation of only working for a short period of time and you should eat as healthy as possible for the rest of your life. So, after saying that, check out the Specific Diet section of the message board. In there is the thread called "grocery list for a bodybuilder." It gives a list of items that should be in your cupboard. Those items will go a long way to helping you reach your goals.

hey tim...thanks for replying. :)

lol @ dieting... yeah i've heard that diets are no good. they don't keep the weight off... :surprised:

as i mentioned, i'm a bachelor, so there is little to no cooking at my house... the majority of my food intake is 'fast food' (not necessarily always mcdonalds - but u know what i mean)... so i don't know how much good would a list of what to buy at the local market do.

as far as workout regimines, any recommendations?

There are plenty of plans on this site to help out... pick a fitness plan and have at 'er. There are plans for those with weights, without weights and workouts for machines. I would suggest getting a stability ball if you are working out at home. These can vary up your exercises a great deal and build core strength.

As for eating out, there are healthier options at certain places. If you do have to eat out, make wise choices. If you're going to eat a salad, choose a light dressing, don't put it all on.

Many meals can be pre-cooked at home and stored in the fridge or freezer and used later, but I understand the fast food conundrum. Make a healthier choice if you feel you can't eat anywhere else, skip the supersize, drink water instead of the pop and drop the fries.
