Well obviously I'm new by my subject. Im a 24, and a single mom, and Im glad that I came upon this site. Was having a hard time trying to figure out what kinda of excercising to do. So starting Monday I'm going to give it a shot! For some reason almost a year and 1/2 after having my daughter I started gaining weight. I gained all the baby weight back plus now 20+ pnds more( up to 180 and Im 5'1).... Im not really doing much different then before I had her, except running around more chasing her! So I dont know why I'm gaining the weight!?? The only thing Im worried about is not sticking to excercising. I want to do, Im tired of the weight gain, its just after work and chaseing her around leaves not wanting to do much.
What could I do to keep myself on track? How does a single mom get the time and energy to stick to it?

Hi Blue! Welcome to FT. There is only ONE reason why anyone gains weight. Your are taking in more calories each day (on average) than you are using up that day. Try keeping track of everything you're eating for a few days. No cheating and omitting little things by thinking, that doesn't really count. Write it down, with estimated amounts (in teaspoons or tablespoons if you have to.) Then you'll at least know what you're up against in terms of diet.

bluelace,
I know how you feel. I had my baby and 5 months later when I went to see dr I was still the same weight as I was when pregnant...I cried when I left the dr's office. I have managed to lose some weight now from 238 to 215...its taken a long time to lose...my daughter is now 2 yrs. I cant say I have been making an effort from then to now. However, this last two month when I lost 11 pounds I have changed the way I eat. I want to lose more now, hopfully this site can help.

Did you just change the way you eat? Or did you find this site and do the change in food?

I changed the way I eat prior to checking out this website. if you ready to make a change and feel you can dedicate yourself, check this book out. Its thin, and you dont feel like you have to read small letters and tons of info that discourage you. I got the book at Hasting book store for about $12 Dr. Ian K. Smith, Author of "The Fat Smash Diet"...he is the Dr for Celebrity fit club on VH1. the first 9 days are tough because you are detoxing your body but after that things getting easier. its not a diet, its a way of changing your way of eating. you can actually slip up and get back on the ball again.
