Ok here is what happened, my wife is excepting our first child. I worked out last monday. I was going to go for a new record for bench press and deadlift. Tuesday night she went into pre-term labor. We are 5 weeks out for the due date. Long story short...she is ok no baby yet, he is staying inside for a while. My problem is that I was a nervous wreck all week and weekend. End result is that I ate like it was going out of style! Other bad news (sorta it was so tastey) is that the baby shower on the 18th left a lot of food. I ate it all, mostly mac salads and spud salads. I feel so bad about not eating right, and not working out for a week. I know that it most likely was good for me as it has been a while since I rested. I did not really gain any weight back but still feel very unmotivated to get back in the swing of things. HELP!---------------------------- Life comes by only once....Live it to the fullest! |

I've been there my friend. I went to the beach about three weeks ago and went through over 300.00 in food. I ate what ever I wanted, when ever I wanted. I was a ziggy piggy. When I got back, I really wasn't interested in eating properly. So I gave myself two weeks to slowly get back into the swing of things. I reintroduced all the healthy eating back into my diet over the course of those two weeks and it made the whole process of getting back to eating right easier. Those unmotivated feels are very normal after a layoff and I think most of us have been there.-------------- Anything can be done |

Mutt, I know how it is when you f*ck up your regiment. Taking off time, skipping certain exercises, messing up your diet. All I can say is that in my experience, (re)STARTING is the hardest part. Just like anything else, starting at the "beginning" is so much more dicouraging than "adding" to previous achievments. I find that once I get that (re)start, I'm right back in that positive mind frame again. I mean, it's not like your starting from scratch; you're just starting from a step or two behind. From the looks of your picture and the time you've put into working out, it's gonna take a lot more than a bad week and few days of gluttony to set you back to any significant degree. The best way to remedy a f*ck up is to get right back to business. But I'm sure you already know that. Now put down that f*ckin spoon and grab some iron! I'd say good luck, but luck has got nothin' to do with it. |

Hey Mutt, maybe it'll help to know I find your posts to be knowledgeable and inspiring, so even tho you feel you've messed up you are still helping others while your here. Get back on your program and cut yourself some slack. You were stressed out because of your wife and upcoming baby, I think that shows what a real man you are. Good luck with the rest of the pregnancy and looking forward to your continued posts and progress!-------------- 'Nobody trips over mountains. It is the small pebble that causes you to stumble. I just wanted to agree with basically what everyone else said. Mutt, I am very glad you have joined FT, you're always positive and a nice guy in general. And I was just in the place that you were speaking of, my diets been shot for a while, longer than a week, I've been nervous about things in my life that are changing, but I started my mass program today and started eating right all over again AND I'm so very sore, ouchie wouchie! |

Hay Mutt glad your back on track, I know what stress can do to eating and just about every part of your life. Look at it like this you needed a brake you took it, your wife is fine & your baby is ok, things will fall into place and remember the support you have given me and every one else here at ft. that support goes both ways man. Next thing you know is you will be holding your new son and nothing else will matter. At least thats what I felt when I held my first daughter and still get that feeling ever time I hold them. Although its almost not cool now ive been told by my oldest lol. Good luck and best regards to your family -------------- Never be afraid to try something new. I think we all tend to eat more when the situation is unstable...... We don't really know where to stand or what to do so we grap out for something safe; the food!!!!!!You'll be okey Mutt (and your wife and son as well!!!) We are all with you in here!!!!! -------------- - Nina :o) Les Victoires éternelles sont celles du coeur. |

Hey Mutt, Congrats on the new one on the way. I will tell you from experience to get back on the routine before the baby gets here. Depending on when you workout you may want to look at changing your schedule a bit anyway. Like myself and any others here that have had little ones come into the world, the first few weeks will turn you upside down!! Good luck and remember naps will become more important for a few weeks. |
