Hi, I am 17 yrs of age. I am around 168lbs. I really want to loose all my excess fat laying around. Unfortunately most of my fat is in the Gut area. I really need to lose it. Otherwise it just puts my self-esteem way down. I was taking Stacker 2 Ephedra Free(which just gave me a caffine boost) and BioTest's HotROX (which I realy don't know if it worked). I use to be around 200lbs. Around 3 months ago i really started to work out more than normal. I work out about 5 times a week for an hour and 30mins or 2 hrs. The Supplements I am currently taking are Centrum Multi-Vitamins, L-Glutamine, Creatine (serum) and HOTROX. I was looking to take Ultra-Carb or more HotROX.(something, anything) I am just looking for opinions on what Supplements to take and basically anything that will help get me get my abs back and more definition. Thanks!

LabRat, You won't find anybody on this board who will reccommend that you use these things at your age. Your body produces all the creatine you need naturally at 17. The other products I think you will find carry a warning label. Read it. They also for the most part simply separate you from your money and do nothing for you. The multi-vitamins are cool.
You need to work out properly and rest properly. Did you know that your muscles grow during rest periods and not during lifting periods? In other words your rest is as important to building muscle as the workout. Whoever told you that you need these supplements has given you some bad advice. If the same person advised you on your workout routine it is probably worse. You don't get somthing for nothing. Physical strength and great physique doesn't come in a pill bottle. It takes smart, hard work, proper diet and rest. Good luck in your goals. -------------- Some times life is like herding cats. Charlie | |

I understand your viewpoints. Thank you charlie. The only thing is you kinda get frustrated when people make fun of your weight.

now i may not know how labrat's diet is, but i know for me its been a long hard road to losing the fat on my midsection. I have been training, consistantly and so hard that sometimes i come home and just lay down and just passout. I have ate healthy and when i first started i was 186 of fat...in a year i got to 164 (which includes a 3 month off season for a sports season..which isnt too much of time off anyway). Now after constant lifting, cardio and a healthy diet. I got back to 186, but of muscle with fat only left in the midsection. So Labrat, if your diet is healthy and your busting your ass, then i'm there with ya on trying to lose the chug in the midsection. Its rough and i've almost went on fatburning supplements to help it out. But i just keep reading here to keep working hard, and i know it gets tough, but you just gotta keep plugging away with the iron. eventually it will come around.

Okay, so you have issues with people making fun of your weight, but at 167 pounds, you seem to be on the right track. Its not about "losing weight" now. Its about gaining lean muscle to keep off the pesky fatty areas. This is the part where there is NO QUICK FIX. I commend you for losing that weight, but when you lose weight rapidly and don't work to gain lean muscle, you'll gain it back just as fast. "F" the supplements (except vitamins)...eat your protein and complex carbs and keep your activity level high by weight training and moderate cardio. One thing you have to do in orderfor us to help you, is to fill out your profile with your current situation and your fitness goals. We can't help you if we don't know what you want.-------------- May the lift be with you. |

Besides that last post, I agree with everyone on here. At seventeen you don't need those other supplements. You are falling in to the typical pitfalls that people usually fall into when looking for a quick fix. The truth is, there isn't one (non-surgical). I would suggest that you adhere to a strict diet, and keep lifting. If your diet falters then you will have no one to blame but yourself. You gotta remember, it is very easy to eat at fast food joints and be unhealthy. It is hard to keep a strict diet. If it was easy, everybody would do it. -------------- In order to live, you must be willing to die. |
