I know this has been asked a ton of times but I just want to clear some things up for me. I am about 6'4" and weigh about 230lbs. I have some really good muscle gains and am pretty strong but now I want to start cutting weight. I am getting some love handles. I am 25 years old and the age is starting to catch up to my metabolism. I want to get that six pack and shed some fat. I have just started running on a treadmill. I started out running a mile and then a mile and a half. What kind of intensity do I need to run at? I think I should have my heart beat at around 137bpm or so? I run for about 15 minutes. Is this long enough to run as far as time wise? Should I go for 20-30 minutes? I try and run on Monday, Wed., and Thurs. This is about the only days I can. I play softball on Tues. and play basketball on Fridays.

I really don't eat properly however....just for an example I drink a glass of 2% chocolate milk every morning. I eat pizza, fast food at times, etc. I find it hard to not eat these things so I want to do cardio to try and lose fat.

Am I going to have to start eating better AND do cardio to make any progress? Obviously it would be faster to do it this way. I am starting to eat more healthy and counting calories but I want to focus more on cardio.

So basically is this enough running for me or do I need to run for a longer period of time or more intensly? Any other recommendations? Sorry for the long post, but any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks everyone!

Is 3 times a week enough? Also, is 30 minutes the recommended amount of time to do cardio? I will start on my diet and do cardio 3 times a week at 30 minutes and go from there. What kind of intensity do I need to be at for those 30 minutes? Jogging, running, etc.??

Also, is that chocolate milk (2%) doing some bad harm? Is milk really bad for trying to cut fat?
