Welcome shp. The most effective way to reduce weight is through your diet. You want to check out the nutrition planner and enter information to get an idea of your calory intake. THen begin with eating healthy foods carb, protiens, fats, coupled with a good excercise program resistance training, and cardo. Read some of the other posts and get an idea of how others are managing there weight or reducing weight. There is no sure quick and easy method it takes work to reduce.
I eat 5 to 6 smaller meals a day, and along with my exerecise program, have been able to reduce my weight by 10lbs over a month. My activity level is high as I also train in the martial arts, so I am getting good cardo work out.

Hi shp - there's no gauarantee to how much weight you'll lose ... and I know first hand how frustrating that is to hear. :-) But I can tell you I finally started dropping weight (about 7lbs in 10 days) doing a few things. Remember though - the less body fat you have, the more slowly you'll lose ... overall, your body knows what it's doing so don't push it to extremes and jeopordize your health.

Anyway...

*Increase your water - if possible, cut out all other beverages (pop/soda, coffee, etc.) and stick with water. This works very well for females who tend to carry around a lot of water weight.

*Monitor your carbs - I'm not saying to cut them out, but be mindful of what kind of carbs you eat. And when you DO eat carbs, don't eat them alone - make sure you eat them with some kind of protein or "good fat" if possible, even a "bad fat" is better than carbs alone.

*Add cardio! It may not be listed in your excercise plan, but an extra 20 min. on the treadmill after your weights will make a huge difference for your weight loss efforts.

Most importantly... buy a tape measure! It seems like you want to be mindful of your actual weight (which I can relate to) - but it makes a big difference to at least have your measurements to monitor your progress with as well.

Hope that helps! :o)

I have been watching my carbs...I make a huge batch of veggie soup to have as a meal or snack.

1 x cabbage
6 x carrots
4 x onions
2 x large tin crushed/diced tomato
chicken stock
1 x pkt french Onion soup
2 x green pepper

place all in a large stock pot and simmer until tender. I usually blend it up and place it in containers for the fridge and freezer and have as much as I want (until full)for a meal...or heat up a cup in the mirowave for snacks...I sometimes add pan fried chicken (no skin and cooked in very little oil) which I cut up for protein, I add different fresh herbs (basal, mint, corriander) when reheating the soup to give variety of flavour.

Mixing this soup with other healthy foods in just enough quantities and doing cardio and weights has allowd me to lose 15lbs in just over 3 weeks.

I wish you all the best with your endevours.

cheers
Brendan
