Hi! this is my diet:

6:30 AM 1 cup of coffee
1 Multivitamin
2 cup of water

6:50 AM 30-45 minutes on stationary bike

8:30 AM MRP with 500 skim milk and flaxseed oil

10:30 AM 250 ml fat free yogurt
1 Apple
1 cup of water

12:30 PM One grilled, skinless chiken breast
1 cup brown rice
Steamed Veggies
2 cup of water

3:00 PM Low-Fat Cottage cheese
Whip with berries
1 cup of water

4:35 PM Work Out

6:40 PM Grilled Salmon
1 cup of pastas
Low-Fat dressing
2 cup of water

9:30 PM Protein Shake or cottage cheese

Total Protein: 190 gr
Total Carbs: 300 gr
Total Fat: 40 gr

So, my questions are:

- Should I eat carbs after working out ?
- How do you find my diet ?
- I would like to know what do you exactly think about doing cardio in the morning ??

thanx a lot !

You might want to consider a protein shake immediately after your workout. This should contain some carbs. Your diet seems fine. Cardio in the morning would probably be the best. You'll want to make sure you don't eat for about 45 mins. to 1 hour after cardio.

The protein intake seems a bit high. How much do you weigh?

I would not drink a protein shake immediately after if you are trying to burn fat. On weight training days I will have some low calorie meal that has 5-7g of protein at least in it. This will prevent your body from attacking muscles at all and being counter productive. Usually 1 or 2 egg whites immediately after, and then eating your meal about 45mins to 1hour after the workout.

Ever try doing intensity training such as that of the body for life diet?? its a really good deal. I do it and I feel great after I am done. YOu get a cardio workout while doing your weight training as well...at least it feels like it anyways.

If you are trying to get mass, try to avoid ANY CARDIO!. Only for a 5mins warmup. What I do is eat every 2 hours. I take a source of protein every 2 hours (shake, tune, peanut butter, cottage cheese, etc.) I think you should eatmore and intake 1.2-1.5 grams of protein for every lb of your weight. ex you weigh 100 lbs, take 120-150 grams of proteins a day.

I dunno, I think the cardio is just as important to keep you in good respiratory shape. I would just eat more of everything , carbs and protein. Just watch how much fat you eat. You want to keep that number down while eating about 1g per pound lean body weight, or maybe even a little more as djdansta says. Do your reps slower and get more burn. :)

It's not that I want to loose fat, but I want to cut myself while i'm gaining mass!

So, I should eat a bit more during my day or not?

By cutting yourself you are losing fat. Thats how you get cut. You can certainly also tone up and make your muscles rock hard by doing more reps less sets.

The body for life diet allows you to lose fat while you gain muscle. So if you want to get cut right now then you want to have a caloric deficit each day. Meaning you need to burn more than you eat. To gain mass, you need to lift heavy and have plenty of protein. It will take a delicate balance but i think u can do it. Just shift to more protein and a little less carbs...that should help out.

if your following the National Food guide set out by the government, it is wrong and not scientifically proven. some scientists are actually thinking if that has led to the 60% obesity count among Americans. the food guide which directs you to eat low fat high carb is very incorrect. its actually the opposite: you should be eating high fat (good fat) and low carbs--- the good fat as in plant oils (olive oil etc). meaning stay away from oils and fats (animal) that stay solid at room temp.
carbs are necessary to a certain point. you should NOT eat pastas, rice, potatoes. you will get your needed amount of carbs from the healthier foods you eat.
and remember, cardio on an empty stomach! ( i personally prefer before breakfast to boost that metabolism)

yes!!

you need carbs at least 30 mins after your workout. Your body needs that energy so eat carbs. I eat pasta or rice. I put cottage cheese in my pasta and i put tuna in my rice. There is a complete meal.

I always have a protein shake and banana following my workouts. It has worked very well for me. Then I'll eat a high carb, rich in protein meal an hour after that (post workout meal). Hope that helps dzimy.
