Okay I just recently found this site, and have been playing with the nutritional analyze tool... my problem is apparently I do not eat enough... I put in everything that I eat in a day, including drinks and was still way under target in everything. Can anyone please explain why if I'm only taking in about a 700-900 cals. a day I can't lose any weight? I'm only 5'7 and wear a size 15/16, I have tried everything to eat more but my body just won't accept anymore food in it, and the more I work out the more my appetite disapates to the point of consuming only a few hundred cals a day. Any tips or help to increase my appitete would be greatly apprieciated.
Thank you very much in advance Star |

At your height, only taking in 700 to 900 cals, your body thinks it is starving. Your metabolism has all but shut down out of self preservation. You aren't eating enough.Try eating 5 or 6 smaller meals a day. This will speed up your metabolism. You also need to increase food consumption slowly. Lastly look honestly and hard at the foods you are eating. You need to eat clean. Try to eat as little processed food as possible. Welcome to FT. Hope this helps.-------------- Living well is the best revenge. Charlie

Thank you very much for your advice, Charlie, with a little luck I can start eatting more, I've been trying for the past 2 days and have been ready to jump out a window...LOL, For instance yesterday was really tough for me, I had to really try and cram the food down my throat but I did make it to 1397 on the calories, today was not so good though *( I relapsed to only 997 calories that was even with eatting 4 times today... snuck in a 5th meal/snack yesterday... My biggest question is what does one consider a complete meal? How do you determine snack from really eatting? Is half a tuna sandwich with about half a cup of lettuce piled on it (just cuz i love veggies) a meal or snack? Should I be trying for the whole sandwich??

sorry to double post like this, but this is my last question ... I swear... is it normal to become really really thirsty when you start eatting more...like an unquenchable thirst type deal??? I don't think I'm eatting anything that terribly salty, but I have a water bottle graveyard quickly building up beside me here....Is that anything to worry about???

Starz have you had any frequent urination? The not wanting to eat and thirst combined with the weight issue sounds like Diabetes. well good luck - Mike-------------- I must not fear. Hmmm... not really... unless I drink a heck of a lot... but just had my blood checked not to long ago, doc only said that i have really low blood sugar and should eat more, other than that everything else was pretty normal... my iron was extremely high though but has always been a problem with me so I do try to stay away from dark greenies and red meats as much as possible (which oddly enough isn't that hard heheh) right... well anyways unless I developed diabetes in the past month I don't think that's it... could be though... maybe I should set up another appointment, thanks for the tip *) speaking of which... anyone know what to do for high iron concentrations? seems most people are anemic (however you spell that) doc couldn't give me much advice other than to be careful if I ever took any multi vits, and to be sure to say something if I were to get pregnat before they dished out the usual prenatals. I'm just bizarre I know, far too many issues 8p
Thanks again Starz |

starz, don't stop asking questions. Water shouldn't hurt you. Food shouldn't hurt you. If consuming a larger quantity of both is new to you it may just take time. The more frequent meals will step up your metabolism. The adjustment to more may best be done gradually. Stay the course on your exercise and increased food intake. It will balance out.-------------- Living well is the best revenge. Charlie

Thanks again Charlie *) I'm sorry I don't mean to be such a spaz, it is all very new to me, I've been on a perpetual crash diet??? I guess is what you could call it, for the past ten years, my husband doesn't even like taking me out to dinner because I'll take a few bites of food and say I'm full, which only gets the waiters and sometimes managers over asking if the meal was okay...which is somewhat embarrassing, okay really embarrassing especially since I'm not a stick figure but a fairly heafty gal, and anyone near by our table will generally snicker if I ask for a box, of course they don't know that one of two things is going to happen to the food I bring home... either it grows green in the back of the fridge or my cats really love their mommy. Thank you a thousand times more for being so patient with me.
