I confused about what exactly I need to do to get the results I want. I'm 30 years old, 5'10 and 189 lbs with a medium build. I want to get rid of the spare tire I have and add muscle to chest, back, arms ect. I've been working out for four weeks (5 days a week) and i just changed my diet to take in 2400 calories or less a day. Is this the right approach? I've gotten different answers from different people. Some people are telling me that I shouldn't worry about my weight just keep on working out and i'll lose the gut, but others are telling me to lose the gut, then add on the weight back as muscle. I'm confused about which way I should go.
I'd say cut down on your carb intake, increase your protein. Up your cardio exercises too. Focus more on that rather than the weights. The people that said to lose the gut then add the weight back as muscle have got the idea. The point here is to burn the fat then strengthen the muscle so you get more of the ripped look. Just working weights will not burn the fat but instead will hide the hard earned muscles that you've been training.
