I think that is what they mean. Start really light for the first set of 20, that is a warm-up. I rest inbetween legs when I do heavier lunges because the back leg gets tired when the front leg is working. Make sure you are plenty warmed up and have fun!

Some things Ive learned about lunges.
They are a somewhat extrem exersize and you can be easily injured.
Form is everything, make sure you go slow and dont use weights untill you get conditioned to do so.
Make sure you step out far enough to keep your lower forward leg in a verticle 90 degree angle with the floor.
Continue to follow-thru with the lunge keeping your upper body upright and lower your butt like you are going to take a seat in a chair until your rear knee almost touches the floor.
yes, it is a science.

Another thing on lunges which I found with my last workout that seems to put less pressure on the knee and still give a strong workout.
- Focus on one side at a time
- Get into the lunge position (right leg out, left leg back)
- Bend your right knee, bringing your left knee towards the ground
- Stop just before you hit the ground
- Return to initial position
- Bend again and so on for the 20 reps
- Switch sides
Taking out the stepping motion and switching legs between each exercise really takes strain off the knee and helps keep your balance. Hope it helps, they may be extreme... but they really help.

YEP! They can be quite dangerous!
I was doing my work out in the living room a couple months ago and my boyfriend walked in the living room. He said "Let me show you how that's done". He started being silly and workout out with me and hurt his knee with a lunge real bad.
He has had a hard time going up and down the stairs to come into our apartment since then.
Finally talked him into going to the doctor's office about a week and a half ago and they put him on medication and will be sending him to physical therapy 2-3 times a week for 2 months. And OF COURSE, he's SUCH A MAN. He doesn't want to go or take the medication, it'll be fine he says. ;) hhahhahaa It is fine now, but it took 2.5 months to quit hurting all the time.
You should be VERY careful. You could get hurt pretty bad. Like Intruder said. ;)

I had a baby 5 months ago. I'm just starting to work out and I need to know some exercises to get rid of my big hips and extra "baby fat"on my belly. Thanks
