I am a complete newbie to the working out thing. I am 22yr old male, 160lbs, 5'10". I have a fairly slim figure but this god awful gut. So I signed up for this thing, and I start the ab routine today...however I have some questions.
Now remember, I am new, so....exactly how do you do crunches, leg raises and seated twists with weights? Cause after I am done the workout I after to enter a weight value, and from reading, doing it without weights just burns calories.
Should I start by burning calories to get rid of the gut and then start developing abs?
For example, today I am suppose to do 2x15 crunches, 2x15 leg raises and 2x15 seated twists and then 25 mins on the treadmill?
Any suggestions....sooooo lost :(

Welcome to FT niagaracboi! First let me tell you that in order to get rid of the belly fat, exercise alone will NOT be enough. Make sure you also follow a high protein, low fat diet. There are some great starter ideas in the nutrition forum. As far as entering the weight, just enter 0 for now until you can add weights. Hopefully one the the pro's will answer the question on how to add weights to those exercises. Good Luck :)

Adding weight can be done from the beginning if you like. When doing crunches, simply place a weight plate on your chest. When doing leg raises, place a DB between your feet. Another thing you can do is cable crunches. Check the fitness resources here for other ideas.

Hey, abdominal exercises alone wont help, u would need to take extra care of ur diet alongside too. In my case i go for 20 mins treadill or cycling before closing my workout sessions with abdominal exercises. More than the reps in abs exercise, it is important to concentrate on ur breathing pattern and also contracting ur stomach muscles. Also adding weight in crunches is a fair enough approach but try not to hurt or strain ur back. Roman chair is another exercise for abdominal which works quite well for overall pack.
