The biggest mistake is a irrational change in diet. Do not cut down your intake unless it is unhealthy foods. In that, you should first exchange it with something else, then maybe slowly decrease what you eat. If you drastically cut your meals, your body will think it is starving and you will end up gaining wieght. It should take about 6 week to do this in a healthy manner, seeing most of the change in the first month. The most important part is knowing that you are not doing a trend or a temp change. This should be a plan that you will want to live with the rest of your life. So make it fun and fresh; something you will want to do, rather than dread.

Zibber hit it right on but another recommendation is to lose the sweat jackets. Any weight you lose will be water (which is temporary) and will just lead to more problems when your body starts craving things to replace the minerals you lost due to dehydration.

The jacket is helpful to lose wieght but very dangerous. As Mike said, you will lose water before it help. The idea is it warms your body keeping the kinetic energy flowing. It is a short cut in otherwords. I personly believe anything that is a shortcut can't be good, so I never used one. Just on a side note, that is why gyms are always to cold. It is better to stay healthy than take the easy road.
