I'm new here. I'm 26 years old and overweight for my height. I was recently discharged from the military and had two surgeries on my ankle. Since I was laid up for a while and can't do much with my ankle, I gained a good bit of weight. I'm trying to lose it doing what I can, but it's hard when the one thing you like to do, running for me, you may never be able to do again. So I've been fighting depression as well. But I'm going to try my best. I was surprised when I went to the drs office and found out I've gained 10 pounds after leaving the AF in only 3 months.
Keep in mind if you did a lot of cardio while you were in, for a period of not working out you'r muscles will bulk up and make you gain more weight, which may explain some of the 10 lbs. If you are using a membership when you go back to working out, find a buddy, may even be able t locate one through this site, do what excercises you can do without hurting you'r ankle, and remember. This wouldn't be the first time a doctor has been wrong, and if you follow treatment properly you may be back to running before you know it.
