Hello. I am 24. I just finished graduate school (Masters degree). I weigh 275 lbs because I sit around all day and eat poorly in spurts... I've tried dieting, and can eat well sometimes for days at a time, and then I have an awful day with say a carton of ice cream and a bunch of other bad stuff. Then I can eat good stuff for another 5 days or so...
Anyway, I just got a job that doesn't require me to be there until 10-11 am, so my plan is to wake up at 7:30 or so and work out in the mornings.
I did have one question: when I put in my nutritional information (275 lbs, male, 24, slow metab, goal is to lose weight), I got back that I should eat a max of 4300 or so calories a day... this seems REALLY high to me for a weight loss diet... can anyone tell me whats up?
Thanks

The nutritional guidance comes in way high for some reason.

Yes...stay away from that....shoot for 10-15 cal per pound of body weight to lose fat...depending on your activity level...drop a feww hundred cal from your diet every few day until you see the weight start to come off.

Ok... also if I plan to work out in the morning before work, is it best to eat breakfast before or after the workout (if before I would need to leave something like 20 minutes before I started working out for a small breakfast?)

I work out before work and what I normally do is have a preworkout shake (protein, plain yogurt and berries usually). Then as soon as I get into work I'll have my breakfast. If you do a search, there are a lot of discussions for what to have preworkout. Some recommend sipping on something before and during workout. However, I'm in the gym at 5 a.m. If I started work as late as you, then I would probably just get up early enough to have a regular breakfast and give it enough time to settle (an hour) before starting my workout.
