I'm Lauren, first of all.

I'm at the start of a very long break from school (not returning until August) and decided that with the time to think about working out and eating right, now is the time to lose all of the weight that I've been saying I would since junior high. I'm knocking on 20 years old and looking to lose about 80 pounds when all is said and done. My more short-term goal is to be able to keep up with my niece and nephews who have all just started association baseball/softball and are constantly practicing out in the yard. It's a shame to get out there sometimes and have less energy than my parents who help coach them!

As far as eating, I was a vegetarian for about five years and have only recently returned to meat. I live in the south and a lot of our homey, traditional meals are really unhealthy. Luckily, my mom and I both love to cook and learn new recipes, and I'm sure she'll be on board with looking into healthier food for the whole family, not just the daughter on a diet.

I hope I can make some friends to help hold me accountable here! I'm a known lazybones, so it's nice to know I can have a place where people expect more of me and help me expect more of myself.
