In the past, I used to work every part of my body as much as possible. This means pumping my chest, arms and legs almost everyday. I was then told that I should slow down and work out different parts of my body each day.. eg. arms on Monday, chest on Tuesday, legs on wed, etc. I was also told that rest is just as important as training if not more important. Does this also apply to abdominals? I was under the impression that the more I workout the faster I'll see results. Any advise?

This has been discussed before. Abdominal muscles are not different from any other muscle group. They can grow bigger as well, and of course they need enough rest to rebuild. The only difference is that not many people work their abs to failure so they are able to work abs 2-3 times per week without risk of overtraining.
Finally, the more you work out and over stress your body, the slower you'll get to results....... It's a fact. If you want results try follow the 12 week muscle mass program.... You'll quickly see the difference.

You should first fill out your profile so we know a little more about you, your current training regimen and goals. Without knowing anything about you, my advice would be to go ahead without supplements and see if you get results. Remember, supplements only do just that: supplement your workout. It's not the end all solution.
If you do decide to take supplements, stick with the basics: creatine, l-glutamine, protein shakes and multivitamins.
Good luck!
