Hi, I'm new :)

I'm 5'7 140-145 pds(changes on a daily basis lol)
I have a fast metabolism. I eat and eat but it goes away like water.

I'm very new to the whole nutrition world. I'm slowly learning about the whole protein/calories/etc. business.

I have a decent body, but my arms are small(and i'm not thick boned so it doesn't help either hehe)

So my question is, how many calories should I be taking per day to be able to gain mass. And Do you guys suggest I take/make protein shakes or stuff like that to help me gain the calories and such? cause I mean as much as I can eat, my stomach has its limits ;)

anyways, great site :P
I'm still a noob in these things, but hopefully I'll learn
later

well, this is what the next post will say:
first, fill in your profile so that we'll be able to help you more...
then, write down everything you eat for a week, and if you don't gain/lose a pound or two, then that means you've found the amount of calories your body uses just to mantain itself... from there you can adjust your calorie intake to help you gain your mass...
make sure you excercise (weights) so that you'll put on some lean muscle... and yes, do take in the protein shakes... the way they figure is that you should take 1-2 grams of protein for each pound of body weight you have... so you'd be taking between 140-280 grams of protein a day... and the reason you'd be taking in that protein is so that your body can use it (the protein) to build/repair your muscles... that's what muscles are made of, basically (protein and water)... speaking of which... make sure you drink water until you piss through every orphace in your body! um... yeah, that's pretty much all i can think of right now... make sure you make optimun health your prime goal... good luck and welcome to the site!

You don't necessarily need protein shakes or high calorie weight gainers if you can get enough from food. If you can't, though, they can be very helpful.
