I am new to this forum and I was hoping I could get some advise from some of you people experienced with a high calorie diet. I need to consumer a minimum of 3750 calories a day with about 225 grams of protein. Getting enough protein is the easy part, I am just finding it hard to get a list of foods packed with high calories. If any of you on this board could help me I would appreciate it.

Also, as far as supplements, I am taking creatine and whey protein, but I wanted to know about the benefits of taking pills such as Pinnacle NoX2 and more specifically Ergopharm 1-AD. I am currently 150 pounds and just starting my diet and work out programs and I am wanting to pack on about 25 to 30 pounds of mass and I am open to any suggestions or advise any of you have.

Thanks in advance for your responses!

Pasta, bread, potatoes, yams...these have a fairly high amount of calories. What are you eating with your protein? Are you getting most of it from powders? If so, you mention whey protein. Are you consuming this throughout the day?

You should be concerned with calorie density as compared to nutrient density. This will give you your needed calories. For example, I posted this before. If you have trouble gaining mass, think like this. Choose calorie dense foods. For instance, one cup of cucumbers contains a minuscule amount of calories at 14, while the same cup, filled with raisins, would contain a whopping 520! Imagine trying to consume all of your carbohydrates from the cucumber. Such a task is almost impossible; this is why you would opt for the calorie dense raisin.

Design your diet with calorie dense foods, beef, peanut butter, brown rice, etc. Eat quality, you need vitamins and minerals also, and choice foods will contain these. Do not opt for calories just to have calories, like ice cream, etc.

A good homemade weight gainer can be 1 cup oats, 2 tbsp. peanut butter, 2 scoops whey protein, enough fluid to make it a shake, and 2-4 tbsp. of heavy cream. Good quality nutrients, the oats, the peanut butter, etc. Choose wisely and you will meet your goals rather easily.

rpacheco and bb1fit,

Thanks for your responses to my questions about calories. Most of the protein I am getting is from tuna, canned chicken breast and other foods, but I am also getting calories and protein from protein bars and the whey I am taking. Due to being a member of the military and the constant changes in schedule, I am finding it very difficult to get the necessary daily intake of calories which is around 3750. As far as the whey protein, I am consuming about 3 servings a day. I know the standard rule is eating 6 smaller meals throughout the day but sometimes this is almost impossible being a member of the military.

Any other suggestions you may have I welcome them and look forward to your advise. As stated before, my current weight is 150 pounds and my ultimate goal is 185 to 190 pounds and I know with a little insight and persistence I can achieve this goal.
