i don't understand it either. i calculated my daily intake and it's about 500 calories short from the diet plan. the workout plan is not much different from what i've been doing the past 2 weeks and yet i have lost no weight. how is this possible?:surprised:

The calorie calculator on this site is broken. If you want to lose weight, try eating about 10 calories per pound of your body weight, per day. This is just a general estimate, but should be pretty close to what you need.

Also, going along with what returnofplex said, make sure to alter that number by how much work you do. For example, I weigh 120 lbs, but if I only ate 1200 calories a day I'd starve because of how active I am. I try to get anywhere between 1800-2000 calories a day, depending on what I'm doing, and it seems to work for me. Everybody's different though, so figure out your body's needs and stick to them.

Well, 4888 calories is over 1000 more than what you should be eating, and that really can make a huge difference. Usually, cutting back 500 calories per day is what's recommended as a healthy deficit to start off with. Going by what the site said, you'd be eating over 7000 calories too many per week. When you think about it that way, they really add up.

I'm not sure exactly how much fat you should be eating a day, but there are other people here who should be able to give you a general idea.

Make sure you do at least 30 mins. of cardio a day. Don't make it intense at the beginning. Two 15 minute walks a day are fine. Also, try bringing in weight training if you can. Muscle burns more calories than fat does, so that will definitely help you.

That's so nice that you have a gym right in your building! I think every apartment/condo complex should have a gym.

Remember, in the beginning the weight will start to come off quickly. Your body isn't used to exercising and cutting back on calories, so you may get some drastic results. Just make sure that a few months into it, when the weight loss slows down to 1-2 lbs a week, you don't get discouraged and give up. It sucks, but the skinnier you get the harder you have to work to keep losing more weight. The good news is that the longer it takes you to get rid of the weight, the longer it'll stay off.

And make sure that you don't push yourself too hard and get discouraged if you're not able to complete your workout. Listen to your body!

Good luck with everything, and if you ever have any more questions or anything just ask!
