Protein feeding is known to decrease hunger and subsequent food intake in animals and humans. It has also been suggested that glucose appearance into portal vein, as occurring during meal assimilation, may induce comparable effects. Here, we connect these previous observations by reporting that intestinal gluconeogenesis (i.e., de novo synthesis of glucose) is induced during the postabsorptive time (following food digestion) in rats specifically fed on protein-enriched diet. This results in glucose release into portal blood, counterbalancing the lowering of glycemia resulting from intestinal glucose utilization. Comparable infusions into the portal vein of control postabsorptive rats (fed on starch-enriched diet) decrease food consumption and activate the hypothalamic nuclei regulating food intake. Similar hypothalamic activation occurs on protein feeding. All these effects are absent after denervation of the portal vein. Thus, portal sensing of intestinal gluconeogenesis may be a novel mechanism connecting the macronutrient composition of diet to food intake.

You are always the tops when it comes to diet bb1. I have had an unusual rise in my appetite lately and need to get myself back on track, I want to do this on my own this time and having info like this makes things alot easier. It's going to be interesting for me to see if I can succeed at getting my BF% back to where I want it and maintin it with this new rise in appetite, which so you know is from meds. Mainly thyroid.
Also want to give yourself, asimmer, mutt, rev, philia, rpacheco and carivan a much deserved pack on the back as well as many others here in the community, like charlie or mike, theres literally too many to list. I for one would just like to say I am very thankful for this site. Huge inspiration in itself. I guess the biggest thanks need to go to george and adrian who made it happen. For those who know me know I'm best takin' in small doses and am definitly not one for sucking up. Just want to give credit where credit is due. Thank you.

Yeah, eating protein, you feel fuller sooner.

There was some thought and still is that it has to do with metabolic processing...i.e...breakdown to amino acids, etc.

Bottom line though is probably as the study alludes to, folks on high protein diets tend to eat less! So, if proteins do somehow increase the production of glucose in the small intestine that this would act on neuropeptides that would send signals to the brain that the stomach is full.

They do! Ive been training on and off all the time, abotu 18% body fat, want to get in shape.

After only three days of using your diet thread protein diet, (plus a lean cuisine daily for SOME sanity, which will have to be eliminated later on), combined with weight training/hiit cardio/ and yoga, plus a treat of tanning salon once, i can already see a difference! only after 3 days! i know it gets harder as i go along, but im motivated now!

on top of it im full, no its not fat-latened food, but its much better compared to those who starve themselves........
