I'm excited about finding this site! I started lifting weights about 4 months ago and I love it! Just recently I hired a personal trainer and had five sessions with him. It was a great investment. I learned a lot. Since I can't afford to have a personal trainer on an ongoing basis I was very happy to have found this site. Great information. Thanks.

Thank you Jplatz! I'm looking forward to making new friends who are just as dedicated as I am to health and keeping their bodies in good physcial condition.
I listed my goals in my Profile, but I'll explain them here as well. I want to gain more strength without adding a lot of mass. I build muscle easily...it must be a genetic thing. Anyway, my biggest goal is to develop more definition in my legs. I have good definition in my arms and I have killer abs. My lower body needs to catch up to my upper body which is always a challenge for me. I could stand to lose more fat as well. I just had the fat analysis done and I have 23% body fat, which isn't bad, but all the fat goes to my lower body!

Rebekah, I find with most women, the lower body tends to be the meeting place of most all body fat. I think there must be some sort of magnetic pull to that part of the body, similar to the equator.
The key to reducing bodyfat is diet. I don't know what type of diet you're on now, but if it can help reduce bodyfat, it's the best.
While you can't spot reduce, you can focus on certain areas to stimulate muscle response. Thigh abductor and adductor machines, squats and leg presses will really motivate your lower body.
But with 23% bodyfat, you probably don't have much to lose. Keep up the great work!

jplatz....thank you for your encouragement. My diet consists of low fat, mainly organic food. I eat red meat. I have a weakness for chocolate, chips and popocorn. Squats and leg presses are a part of my workout as well as leg extensions. I don't know about the abductor machines. I'll have to look into that. I'm very interested in learning new things. I think at this point, my diet is pretty on target, so the weight lifting is what is going to be the key to bringing definition to my legs. I've only just begun and I'm already seeing results so I'm excited about the changes I'll see in a few months!

Next I have to work on getting my picture loaded.
