I have been doing HIIT CARDIO for almost 2 weeks now. I have been doing it on the treadmill mostly, running a mild 6.2 level speed for 1 minute, then do 1 minute at a fast pace, about 8.5 speed. I do this 30 minutes, with a 5 minute cool down. I was just wondering if anybody had any good input into this regiment, and if HIIT has really worked for anybody else to help shed that midsection fat.

I think you could lower the 6.2 a little. The point is to get your heart rate up, slow it down, get it up, etc. I am not sure if that is enough variance for that.
I've heard that you shouldn't do it for more than 20 min.

Add diet to your workout and you will lose weight. It is not immediate, have some patience.

Yeah I am trying, gave up soda, gave up greasy fries, burgers, sticking to chicken salads, grilled chicken, egg white omlettes, and drinking water and green tea. I would say I am starting out on the right foot. I can say though, it does get frustrating when you dont notice results. I am trying to be patient.:(

be sure to include good carbs like sweet potatoes, brown rice. oatmeal in your diet. You need fuel for your exercise and you really don't want a huge calorie deficit.
2 weeks is not a long time - you didn't put the weight on in just two weeks, did you?
It often takes 5-6 weeks to realy see any results, sometime longer if your metabolism is slow. Focus on the myriad of health benefits that you are reaping by working out, and the new levels of energy you should be experiencing from working out, the weight loss will come.

Trying to stay with the good carbs, but with be being in the military and deployed to the desert, I dont always have a chance to have sweet potatoes, brown rice, or oatmeal, I generally get what the serve that day, but im trying to stick to the healthy stuff.:)

Thanks for the advice, I am trying not to give up to much, just the unhealthy stuff I really dont need. I am sticking to grilled chicken, egg whites, tuna, salad, veggies, and fruit. I am just trying to give up the fried fatty foods that nobody really needs.
I do see your point about getting discouraged and giving up without seeing immediate results, but I am keeping my head up, and am just thinking that i know this takes time, and wont happen over night.

Be careful of giving up too much all at once in the effort to change your physique. This is a normal reaction for many who are beginners, and especially dangerous in your case. This means that giving up everything 'good' in an all out effort and not 'seeing' immediate results can lead to completly throwing in the towel and even worse binging in the false assumption that nothing is happening. Have seen this numerous times. Be careful here and proceed with caution.
