How much leg width is necessary when exercising with the Seated Hip Abductor? Obviously the more weight I add, the more my range of movement is reduced.

When I was swimming in high school my coach made me use that thing to "strengthen the inner thigh" to improve my breast stroke...that's the only machine I could use...every other day,an hour a day..my inner thighs got huge,my muscles got so tight I could hardly move...and my time went down....yes my coach was an idiot....IMO...that thing is a waist of effort....but I my be biast here.:)

I think you mean adduction KC_72.
And yes, it is a waste of time IN MOST CASES. I have weak and tight adductors, as well as tight hip flexors. As a result, I use the ADductor machine as a form of prehabilitation and to strengthen my adductors in a stretched position.
In my opinion, there are better ways to do this for MOST PEOPLE, but in my case unilateral work and wide stance work was not working.
The point... everything has a purpose, but I would still like to know what that purpose is in your case dogfather.

Yes wrestler....looked it up....the abductor draws AWAY from the body...adductor draws IN from the body..was never sure of the difference before:)
