Hey ya’ll! I have been working out for a while now and really have hit a plateau hard with my workouts and in building muscle mass. Right now I am 6’2, 212lbs, my goals is to gain another 10-15lbs, but I having difficultly with the gains. Currently I have a cal intake of 32-3500 a day using the 40-30-30 methodology, and my workouts are 2 on, 1 off, 3 on, 2 off. I do chest, shoulders and triceps on day 1; day 2 is back, biceps, etc.

I also do a combination within my workouts of wt and calisthenics or plyometics on leg day. Should I cut out any cardio or simple take in for cals and use more wt?

Since you're on a mass program, you should either cut your cardio out or keep it to a minimum. This, along with increasing your caloric intake (try increasing by 250 per day for a week, then adjust higher as needed) will gain you some more weight.

Good luck!

Yeah you should cut out a bit of your cardio but i would recommend that you don't entirely quit it!!!

I wouldn't readily rule out the possibility that you are "over-training," either. You're at the gym for 5 of every 8 days. Your body could be telling you to slow it down. I'm not saying that this is exactly what's happening, but I do recommend you read this board and other sites about over-training.

It's not a macho thing; don't think you're less tough for resting more. It's just that if you don't allow proper healing before working a given muscle again, gains are lost (and I believe you can even enter a catabolic state, thereby losing even more muscle than you had before the previous workout).

Food for thought. Best of luck.

Thanks for all the advice, I have actually implemented a few of the suggestions already and I'm going to test the waters with them and hopefully they work.

As for cutting out Cardio, I could never cut it all out, what i did do is limit my cardio to 3 days a week from my norm. or before my workouts, which could also be one of the causes for my lack of growth.

Well, thanks again! and please keep em coming!
