IF you have never worked out before then yes....however eventually you will need ot get bigger dumbells, an dmaybe some barbells in the future. Maybe some plat weights to put on your back for extra resistance for pushups dips etc.

But no matter what, your gonna need to eat to get that muscle, you can build a house with out bricks? YOu need building material of somekind. Thats is what food is, the building "material" to get them bigger.

How are you too young? I know the YMCA lets kids run around all the time with out being supervised, main reason why I stoped going. Your parents have to sign you up, but you can still go by youself. I went by myself when I was 14, and i'm sure as long as you don't get into trouble they wouldn't care even if your 13. Cause I seen 12 year olds come into the weight room unsupervised. Which that is the "attendants" falt though.

jonny, many people would actually argue that dumbells are superior to the machines in the gyms.

I have been using a home workout with dumbells for several months and I have made good strength gains.

The most important thing is, as bigandrew says, your diet. If you are eating the right things, and lifting heavy enough that you reach fatigue after 12 reps max, you should see the benefit.
