reddy is right, but at 13 you should focus on eating right more than anything... it doesn't really help much to do 18 hours of cardio a day and eat a happy meal everytime you're hungry...

ioioio,

I recommend that you get yourself a set of dumbbells and an exercise ball. I work with many clients in their homes using nothing but that, and they get a great workout.

You do need to mind your nutrition, though, and get plenty of cardio. I am certified as a Youth Fitness Trainer, and I can tell you that the level of bodyfat that you carry around over the next 5 years will determine your ability to keep off bodyfat as an adult.

Work hard at your training program, but work smart, and don't overdue it.

Let me know what else I can do to help.

ioioio,

There are DOZENS of exercises that you can do on an exercise ball. Pretty much anything that you can do on a regular bench can be done on an exercise ball, only it will be harder, which makes it a great exercise. I have my clients doing exercises with the ball for every single bodypart.

If you want a few pictures, About.com has a very basic set up on this page and the page following it: http://www.bodytrends.com/balex.htm

I keep a list of ALL exercises that I do, and that my clients do, although I don't have a graphic representation of them available just yet - soon, though!

Im a 15 year old and i work out at home. Just get yourself a set of plate dumbbells and barbell (you can remove the plates so that you have different weights with just one handle). This is what I use and I think im doing pretty well with them.

Hey Boldz,

Hope you're doing better soon.

It depends on how you define "broke." Are you in a cast from a broken bone, or recovering from surgery from a torn ligament or tendon? It makes a big difference. Discount advice given here (unless it comes from a health professional). Stick with what YOUR Dr. tells you. But make sure you tell him/her what you want to do. Most will encourage you - IF they think you have recovered enough. If they don't think you've recovered enough, heed their advice.

If you're not in a big heavy cast, I found that swimming was a great workout when recovering from ACL surgery. Just don't push beyond what the Dr. says is okay. Definitely push, but stay within limits so you don't hamper the healing process.

Good luck!

Good day! I just started and the exercise that was assigned to me requires barbell. However, I only have dumbbells at home. Can I use dumbbells instead as substitute for the said equipment? Thanks.
