How do you measure how many calories you burn when you are doing weights at the gym? It is easy on the treadmill or elliptical but I have no idea what I burn doing my "routine".

Thank Mutt! I am sure my intensity is nothing like yours but it is very intense for me! I get a lot of exercises with a lot of reps in the hour I spend with my trainer. I probably burn less than 12 but that at least gives me something to go on. Thanks again. I have only been taking into account the 310 calories I burn in the 30 minutes on the elliptical!

Not at all. And i do not believe that you have less intensity than i do. Just because I may lift more weight than you in no way means that I have more intensity than you do.. It is not so much what you lift(lbs), but rather how you lift it. I have seen some pretty big guys lift very little weights...so it is all about that one rep/set you do and how you do it not what weight you are lifting....good luck you insprie me to go harder!

Thanks for the compliment, I am very inspired by all you guys here! I really appreciate all the information I get. I have an Aunt who will be 83 in August and I hate a Great-Aunt who lived to be 101! I want to be the best I can be no matter how long I live; it just took me a while to realize it!! ;o) I was always very much a tomboy when I was young, I could climb trees just as fast as the boys but . . . I grew up!

well get out there and climb again LOL it is all a state of mind, getting old, the younger you think the better off you are. And just think you will be the olny 95 year old able to bench her own weight at the community center LOL.

I use a MIO Shape heart rate monitor. It measures calories in/out (accuracy is dependent upon circumstances, but it's a good general measurement). See my epinions.com review on it at http://www.epinions.com/content_97643302532

I'm also curious about the calories burnt during weight training. Will women burn less than guys?
