Newbie question: Every day (or several times a day) I login and check what I am supposed to do for a workout. Sometimes I look ahead to the next day, or read the message boards, look stuff up...etc.
When I look at the exercises that are listed for a workout (four exercises or so, usually 3 or 4 sets each), it doesn't seem complicated (credit to the designers) but it doesn't hit some of the target areas that I think are important. (eg: chest workout today, butterflies have never been mentionned) It's only my third week, so I'm still waiting for the workouts to get more intense. Should I sub-in the extras as I see fit, or stick to the plan as it's written?

Are you lifting heavy enough weight to reach fatigue with each set?
If you are and the workout still doesn't seem intense enough, it is no problem to add in extra exercises if you like

Also, the exercises change the further along the plan you go...

And some exercises are considered finishing exercises and aren't necessary for some goals.
