I am asking because my back hurts whenever I do back exercise, is it really important? and what are the benefits?

Three things that occur to me with your question:
1. You may not be doing the exercise correctly.
2. You may just have weak back muscles and you need to strengthen them more slowly.
3. You may have a pre-existing back problem.

Belts are safety devices only; they are not meant to be used as a crutch, and should only be used when doing extremely heavy weights.
