Hello there. My question is this; lets say im the kind of guy that really loves to lift, but i work a job where it doesnt follow suit. I work out at a nice gym when im in town, but based on uncontrollable circumstances, im forced out of town a lot...without much notice. Sometimes when big problems occur, im in a crappy hotel without much of a gym for a week or more at a time. Sometimes there is a small assortment of stuff where i can get a decent workout in, but no freeweights. My ? is...How long before you rest so long your muscle mass actually starts to decrease?

Some ideas to keep in mind that have been mentioned here before are, maybe take some exercise bands along. Try to find hotels that are affiliated with a local gym. As long as your diet is kept up, you should not lose any muscle mass.

does one of the big name gym's have a membership where you could work out at any of them?? I"m in a small town so we don't have any but I wondered about that before

i go to X-sport. Its like a 1 time fee of 50 bucks and you get access to all the X-Sport Gyms. I believe .. Not 100% sure , but i believe that is the case.

ONe ideal is to keep your diet high in protein. By keeping it fed with quality amino acids, this will help to "persuade" the body to retain lean mass. You will not lose muscle in one week.

The top priorities are
#1 maintain overall calories
#2 take in enough protein(1-1.5g per lb)
#3 devise workouts based on your extended recovery time periods
#4 I would take fish oil, as it has been shown to prevent muscle loss
#5 You'll likely lose strength first, with proper diet, you can maintain most of your mass for month or more...
I go to gym as little as as once a week....but when I am there I hit weights HARD....I always try to set some type of a PR....whether it's a 3rm, 1rm, 10rm, etc...if u have a lot of time to recover then you can do 1-3rm workouts with big compound movements 1-2 times a week...to get great results in deadlift/back u can do it as little as once every 3 weeks, squat/legs once every 2 weeks, and smaller muscles once every week.....
I would do Military Presses, Bench Press, Dips, Chin Ups
once a week with 1-3 rep maxes
I would do squats, lunges, leg presses, etc... once every 2 weeks
I would do deadlifts, BOR, etc once every 3 weeks..
Yes it's possible to maintain and gain doing this....some weeks u're in the gym once , sometimes twice, that's it...when u're off for a week just pick up where u should have been and continue...u'll at least keep your gains...
Keep in mind that the harder you go the longer it takes for your muscles and much more important your CNS to recover...
