Another question. I was curious what people thought was the optimal amount of time to work out per day. I probably average between an hour to two hours depending on whether or not I implement some cardio or not. I ask this because I have trouble gaining weight, I've been at around 640 to 168 for like 4 to 6 months. I don't know if it's because I'm not eating enough or if I'm just overkilling my muscles. Lately I've tried to eat more to see if that helps but I also don't want to increase my BF%.

If your trying to put on mass, you gotta eat. increasing your BF somewhat is pretty much inevitable. Bulk first, cut later. Doing cardio isn't going to help you put on mass...eat and lift heavy:) Do some research on this site, there's tons of info on hardgainers.

45-85 min a day depending which muscles are being worked.

I keep my workouts under an hour except when I'm approaching competition time. Then the workouts extend to almost 85 minutes.

I think I'm going to try to get into a phase of less reps/more weight and see if that does anything for me

1 hr. tops. Towad competition, as my diet gets to a point of fairly low calories, this of course increases as more calorie burn is what I am after to supplement my diet.

I never time my workouts. Most of my workouts on muscle gain are something like taking my 8 rep max weight and doing sets of 6 until I can't hit 6 anymore and then I am done.
The fat-loss exercises are more like 3 sets of 20 even if I have to remove weight to complete them, so they take a bit longer.
